Wednesday, July 23

What a great team we are! Last Saturday, mere aquaintances, and today a team. A great team!

Mornings, under the direction of Jacob and Devie, we have taken turns cleaning up the garden, digging holes, mixing and pouring cement in preparation for the garden canopy.  Afternoons, we have entertained the children with the arts and crafts materials provided by BUMC members.

I have watched with admiration as the team has stepped up and taken on any task at any moment.  Paula carrying a 100 pound bag of cement and holding court as "Karla´s" mother. Jill giving a young, energetic Haitian farmer contact information for a coworker who may provide support, and also using her French to help us through Haitian immigration.  Barbara, sitting patiently, surrounded by young people as she shows them how to make a necklace. When hampered by a sprained ankle, she prepared enough chains for at least fifty children!  Sarah, our energizer bunny, is always ready to plant one more pole, talk to one more child, or visit one more beach.  Jacob and Devie have designed our gardens and teamed up to procure every specific set of supplies we needed.

I have felt productive, thanks to Kara and Devie´s perparation, the church´s support, and the spirit of the team.

Hubba Hubba!
